Jakarta Dark Tourism I : Museum Taman Prasasti (Plaque Museum)

Initially the museum was a special burial ground for foreigners in Batavia (Jakarta). The Cemetery, called Kebon Jahe Kober, was set up on September 28, 1975. Kebon Jahe developed into a prestigious burial ground because many renowned persons of the time were buried here. Museum Taman Prasasti was officialy inagurated on Jully 9, 1977. Prior to its inaguration, between 1975 and 1977, the City administration conducted mass exhumation. For visitors, to entry this museum is required to pay some admission fee for Rp 2000, is cheap, right?

Pieter Erberveld's headstone grave, he is a Eurasian from German and Thai parents, Erberveld's status was considered lower than that of a Dutch National's. He had, however, a strong commitment and made effort to fight against Dutch Colonial Goverment. Together with Raden Kartadriya, he planed to murder all Dutch people in Batavia. The Goverment uncovered the plot an he was brutally put to death. His body was tied to and dragged by four horses into four different directions. His remains, torn apart, lay on the street. This location of the executions now called Kampung Pecah Kulit, literary meaning "Village of Torn Skin".

Soe Hok Gie's headstone grave, Gie (i think every one in Indonesia know him), he was a student activist who had a deep sense of humanity and was at the forefront in fighting against the old order regime of President Sokearno. Born on December 17, 1942. He was chairman of the student senate of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Indonesia and one of the founders of MAPALA UI (the Association of Natural Lover Students of the UI). He died in 1969, at the age 27, of poisonous gas while climbing Mount Semeru in East Java Province. The Biography of him was filmed on 2005, directed by Riri Riza and Gie played by Indonesian famous actor, Nicholas Saputra.
